Enoch W Wallace (my GGGrandfather) came to Illinois in 1840s after discharge from Jefferson Barracks with the ending of the Mexican War. After discharge he followed a few soldiers to the Green(now Jersey) County area in Illinois. There he married Julia Bray in January, 1949. He received warranted land and they started their family. He served in the union army, training at Camp Carrollton, IL, serving from private to 2nd Lt. at the time of his resignation.Source Civil War and Later Veterans Pension Index…Walace, Enoch W.
