- 3rd Marine Division (3rd MarDiv). Photographer: Sergeant (Sgt.) L. D. Choate. OPERATION WELD--Corporal J. E. Smith moves out on sweep as a rifle squad from A Company, 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, moves ahead of him. The Marines are about 300 meters from the blocking position.
