There appears to be 2 separate John W. Jacobs. One was born in Orange Co., N.C. who was in the 56th Regiment. The other John W was from Bug Hill, Columbus Co., N.C. who was in the 36th Regiment. Here both are indexed under the 56th Infantry. They should be separate.
