State Delegates and Election of the President & Secretary

Delegates from many of the different states were present.  The following states were represented: Massachusetts, NewYork, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.

In the document you will see Alexander Hamilton of New York and George Washington and James Madison of Virginia. 

George Washington was unanimously elected by ballot as the President of the State House.  William Jackson Esquire was elected Secretary. 

   

Federal Convention Rules

These documents outline the Rules to be observed as the standing orders of the Convention.

Comments

Normally I would not be concerned with the technical rules of a government Convention; however, I think it would be fascinating for someone interested in parliamentary procedure or the current protocol of the U.S. House & Senate to look at the early versions of rules from 1789.
