Poem for Clay - submitted by Jean Baldwin

I just keep wishing you were still here

I will hold all the memories deep in my heart

These memories will never part

I close my eyes as I wipe a tear

I just keep wishing the pain would disappear

I didn’t get the chance to say my last good- bye

I just didn’t think you could ever die

I close my eyes as I wipe a tear

All of your love I will always hold near

In my heart and in my mind I will never be alone

When my time comes, I will meet you in heaven

Don't Stand at My Grave and Cry

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

Casey Richelle Taylor: 1st born

| Biloxi, MS

Clay's first born was a girl, Casey Richelle, born on Feb. 7, 1986. She was born at the Biloxi AFB in Biloxi, MS. He was stationed in Gulfport, MS with the CB's Battallion 74. I was so drugged I called Clay "Frisco," from General Hosptial, when I was feeling extreme pain. I also told Clay I saw "Herb" at Burger King. Needless to say, some guy saw Herb off base at Burger King and won a million dollars. Clay didn't realize I was given a vision!!! Then after Casey was born, I was put in a room with a black woman who said Casey looked just like her daddy and should be called "Claysey!" He was so proud.

Nyle Elizabeth Taylor: 2nd Born

| Homestead AFB, FL

Clay's second child was girl number 2, Nyle Elizabeth Taylor. Clay was stationed at a Naval Security Group out of Key Largo, FL. We lived on Homestead AFB in Homestead, FL. I delivered Nyle at the hospital on base. I had an extremely mean and hateful Phillipino female doctor. During labor, I was at the point where I needed drugs and asked Clay to talk to the doctor. He was scared of her and asked me to wait a while longer because she was so mean!! So I did. Then I told him I could wait not longer and he finally asked... and it was too late. Nyle was delivered and her daddy turned pale and almost fainted. Men! I remember waking up and he brought Casey in to meet her new sister. He couldn't quit smiling.

Jillia Ryann Taylor: 3rd Born

| Miami, FL

Clay's 3rd child was daughter number 3, Jillia Ryann Taylor. Clay was still stationed in FL and we stilled lived on Homestead AFB. He was a cook for the Naval Security Group in Key Largo. I worked for AVMed Health Insurance and had private insurance, so we decided we wouldn't try the military again after that mean doctor. The day Jillia was born, Clay put together a grill ALL DAY LONG, everything had to be put together! I sat and watched on the steps apparently in labor. Went to hosp at about 11pm and Clay just knew I wasn't in labor. Delivered Jillia about 6 hrs later. She had dark hair and was so tiny. We brought her home and Clay put her in a baseball glove. House full of girls, not out numbered...lucky!!!

Clayton "CJ" Daniel Taylor, Jr.: 4th Born

| Tahlequah, OK, Hasting Hospital

Clay's 4th child was a BOY!!! "CJ" Clayton Daniel Taylor, Jr. Clay was out of the Navy and working for Peterson Farms as an assistant farm manager at Turkey Ridge. I was sick the whole pregnancy and CJ was 2 weeks late. We traveled to Tahlequah 2 times hoping to be induced but CJ just wasn't ready. The last time we went, I told Clay we were staying otherwise they'd read about us in the papers. They tried all day to induce me and nothing happened. Finally, they decided to stop and try again the next day. When I was hooked up on the monitor, there was a roar...Clay looked at me questioningly. He thought the baby was growling, but it was my belly. I was so hungry all I wanted to do was eat. The nurses brought me supper and I ate polish sausage and cabbage and while I was eating I went into labor. I told the nurses after I finished eating and told them to get Clay because I was ready ( he had stepped out to get air.) His first and only son was born about 30 minutes later. We didn't even have a name. I told him it was a good time to have a name sake. CJ was named.

Billi Rhea Taylor: 5th Born

| Siloam Springs, AR

Clay's 5th and final child was daughter number 4, Billi Rhea. Clay still worked at Peterson Farms and I worked at Gates, so we decided to have her at Siloam Memorial Hosp and use my insurance. I went into labor at about 5 am and we went to the hospital. I tried my darnedest to have her on Feb 7 to end the cycle but she wanted to come early. When she was born Clay's eyes filled with tears. Another beautiful daughter. We didn't have a name for her either. Clay wanted to name her after his brother Bill. Casey, Nyle, and Jillia always called their Uncle Bill...Uncle Bull. Now Billi wants her neice to call her Aunt Bull.

Comments

He was a 2nd dad to me all through my junior year!! I went and stayed with my best friend nyle and he took care of me! The memories of riding back with him after basketball games, him making fun of me and Nyle, taking us everywhere we needed to go cuz we didn't drive, coming to pick us up after taking his truck for a drive without a license and getting pulled over!! How I will miss that good man!! RIP

Clay's life was dedicated to being the best father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, and (at the risk of offending my other brothers), as his sister, I can say he was the Best brother!! I'm sure my other brothers would agree. Going to miss you, little brother!
