U S Navy cruise books from the USS Shangri-La (CVA 38) 1956-1957. Two deployments to WesPac (the Western Pacific). These were the first two overseas cruises for the ship after its conversion to steam catapults and adding an angled deck.

First Western Pacific cruise of the USS Shangri-La (CVA 38) after conversion

The following images are from the first cruise of the Shangri-La (The Shang) after its coversion to be the first carrier in the fleet equipped with a canted deck and steam catapults. We visited ports in Japan, Okinawa, Hong Kong, and Manila in the Philippines.
