Andrew Jackson Cravy 1821 GA- 1912 TX

Andrew Jackson Cravy/Cravey or A. J. Cravy as he was referred to was a Confederate in the Civil War. He served from 1862-1865 in Company F, 1st Texas Infantry which was Hood's Brigade. Pension # 03625;

A. J. Cravy was paroled at Appomattox Courthouse in Virginia 9 April 1865. He was wounded in the Confederate army. According to his widow Elizabeth Isabella Merchant Cravy's pension application A. J. Cravy received a Confederate Land Certificate but never received any land.

A. J. Cravy was born Jan 1821 in Georgia and died 6 Jan 1912 in Shelby County, Texas. He and his wife Elizabeth are both buried in the West Hamilton Cemtery in Shelby County. A. J. Cravy has a Civil War Monument.

Attached to A.J. Cravey's image are pictures of his wife Elizabeth Isabella Merchant and children Nathan Alexander Cravey, Elizabeth Ann Cravey Moore, Jim Cravey and Lucretia Cravey. The picture of the two children are son Nathan Alexander and daughter Elizabeth Ann. The other picture is daughter Elizabeth Ann Cravey Moore by herself. Another picture is of son Jim Cravey's family.

A.J. and Elizabeth had another son named John Morgan. John Morgan Cravey married Emma Thompson and had 3 children.

The Cravey family can be found on the 1880 Stephens County, Texas Census and lived in Shelby County, Texas. My grandmother Cecil Louise Moore Ray Smith is the daughter of Elizabeth Ann Cravey and Joseph Perry Moore.
