My father was born in a home on H St., NE, this according to his current statements. That home was apprently owned by a LEWIS or rentedby one. My Grandmother Margaret Estella LARMAN-LEWIS-LAWLOR, was b. of a Allen Ellsworth LARMAN & a Susanah, Susanna, Susanah or Susie, BALLENGER-LARMAN & at her death a Susie FOSTER. Susie FOSTER< name at death had been widowed twice, died in No., VA, in the late 1930's or early 1940's. Susie FOSTER, my father , Howard's Grandmother took care of my father many times as well as his Grandfather John M. LEWIS (son of John H. LEWIS-CONFEDERATE-VA) because Margaret was a governement employee, Bureau of Engraving, DC beginning at age 16. Howard Irving LEWIS, b. 1918 in DC, married my mother a Annibrita d'WAINIO, at birth in NYC., adopted in 1925 by the Herman ELFERS & Catherine or KATHERINE EVERS-ELFERS, family, they had ONE other child a William ELFERS, dec'd in MA, 2006. My father Howard I., LEWIS, attended both University of AL & University of Maryland. Howard, was a main contributor to the INVENTION OF THE ZIP CODE, Washington DC. Howard & Marie Louise ELFERS-LEWIS, were married in the Mayflower Hotel, in Washington DC 1947 and had 2 children ONLY. Blake in1947 & Lora 1948, both b. DC.
