Rufus Messenger and Rosanna Goddard

Where: Granby, Hartford, CT

Rufus Messenger and Rosanna Goddard were married in Granby, Hartford, CT in 1798, first child was Rufus Milo Messenger who was born abt. 1799. The family moved Westfield, MA then on to Monroe co., NY where Rufus Milo Messenger met his wife and Elizabeth Ann Barnes the daughter of Timothy Barnes (3) and Almira Cole from Italy Hills, Yate Co., NY. Rufus Milo Messenger and Elizabeth married in 1825 in New York.  In December 1827 they first born son Edwin Milo Messenger was born They own land that was given to them by Rufus and Rosanna in r Parma, Monroe Co., NY By 1830 they were in the Westfield, NY living close to Elizabeth family and soon after they were in Warren Co., Pennsylvania where second son Chauncey Monroe Messenger was born in 1833. Later, they traveled to the Spoon River area of Peoria Co., IL where Clark Whitman Stanton who was married to Elizabeth Sister. Rufus Milo and Clark Whitman Stanton help build the first county courthouse in Peoria, IL. So after Rufus Milo Messenger died by 1836 and  soon after Elizabeth(Eliza) married again to Jacob Ross Jr. who was a father of George Ross.  So they raise their three sons together.
