League of Nations weakened with Nazi withdrawal.

| Geneva, Switzerland

As a result of stringent repercussions placed on Germany, on October 14, 1933, Nazi Germany formally withdrew from the League of Nations.  Part of the consolidation of power by Adolf Hitler, he turned the Weimar Republic into the Third Reich in 1933, declaring Germany to be a one-party state under Nazism.  Germany had previously joined the League of Nations in 1926.  Also in 1933, Nazi Germany passed a law forbidding the formation of political parties, and declared their desire to isolate themselves from the ramifications of the League of Nations.  The League proved ineffective during WWII, and finally disbanded in 1946.
