Four Cash brothers enlisted in Co. D, 43rd Georgia Infantry, C.S.A.

| Banks County, Georgia

On 04 Mar 1862, four of Rebuen Cash's sons, Alfred J., Rayford A., Dillard H. and Preston C. Cash enlisted in Company D, 43rd Georgia Infantry, C.S.A. at Banks County, Georgia.  Their first cousin, Clark Martin Cash also enlisted in the same company.

Alfred Cash died on 30 April 1862 at Chatanooga, TN.  Dillard H. Cash died 04 May 1862 at Atlanta, Georgia, and Rayford A. Cash died 09 May 1862.  Dillard and Rayford are buried in the Confederate section of the Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta, Georgia.

Preston C. and Clark M. Cash were taken prisoner at Vicksburg, Mississippi when it fell to the Union on 04 July 1863.  Both were paroled on 07 July 1863.

My gr-gr- uncles William and Charles Lane also served in Co.D 43rd Georgia Infantry. Their sister, Sarah Lane, married Rayford Cash, who died in 1862 shortly after enlisting. She was pregnant with their son Rayford Cash Jr. at the time of his death. The Lane's and Cash's lived near each other in Banks County, Georgia. Chris Lane
