Martin is the brickwall in the WARE family line for several researchers. His Confederate service record is a big help in learning more about him. His name is most often seen in other records as M. S. WARE or WEAR or WEIR. He apparently did not read or write as he signed his mark in these documents, which may help to explain the inconsistency of the spelling of the last name.
