Black Thursday crash indicative of October 29.
24 Oct 1929 | New York City, New York
Just days before the historic Black Tuesday crash, on October 24, 1929, the initial stages of the great crash of 1929 started. Previous to the crash, the market had fallen sharply, after an amazing increase on the Dow Jones Industrial Average. On October 24, nearly 12 million shares were traded, with the decline accelerating, despite efforts to address the panic the following day. By the crash, nearly 17% of the market value fell, leading to complete desolation on October 29. This was signficant in the end of the optimism of the "Roaring Twenties."
