H.J. Jackson enlisted at Ripley, Mississippi on the 20th of August 1862, age 19, and deserted Sept 25, 1862.

His horse was valued at $165.00 and his equipment was worth $20.00.

Family lore reports Jasper Newton Tull, brother of Henry Jackson Tull, joined the CSA and marched to Corinth, Mississippi. Once at Corinth he danced all night, then stepped into the woods to relieve himself and that was the end of his Confederate Service. Sounds like Henry Jackson Tull may have done the same thing. At least he has one card to actually prove he joined and served. The Tull family was living in Southeastern Hardeman County, Tennessee in 1860 so it would have been very easy to have joined at Ripley, Mississippi and probably the closest place to join.
