John A. Neff joins the Thomas Legion

John A. Neff was Pvt in Co G of Thomas Legion, North Carolina Troops in Walker's Batt'n. He enlisted 24 Sept 1862 by Capt. J.W. Terrell at Dandridge, Tennessee for local defense.
John A. Neff was 28 years old, 5'8 inches tall; dark complexion, blue eyes and dark hair. He was listed as a carpenter. This record indicates he was born in Shenandoah County, Virginia and lived in Jefferson County, Tennessee at time of enlistment.
About November 1862 Co. G became Co H. of 1st Tennessee Cavalry (Carter's Cavalry).
