Andrej Kapec (Andrew Capets Sr) and Anna Petrovich (Anna Capets)

Andrej and Anna were married in Slovakia in 1886.  The marriage certificate indicates that Andrej was a solider.  They immigrated to the United States in 1888. 

First Generation to be born in America.

1. Katherine 26 Nov 1891 - 00 Jan 1960 She was baptized in Watkins Glen, NY.

2. 1894 Maria born January (baptized Gaboltov, Slovakia)??

3. Andrew 29 Nov 1895 - 02 May 1976 He was baptized in Tyrone, PA.

4. Anna (Annie) born 1899 (baptized where?)

5. Joseph 03 May 1903 - 14 Apr 1998.

 

Life Insurance File of Andrej Kapec through the National Slovak Society

The attached files relate to a life insurance policy purchased by Andrej Kapec in 1900 through the National Slovak Society. These papers allowed me to trace Andrej back to the village in which he was born. 

Andrej borrowed money against the cash value of his life insurance policy. At his death, his beneficiary received $750.

 

Andrew Capets marries Mary Kuchta, Trafford, PA

Cumberland, MD

Andrew and Mary were married in Cumberland, Maryland.

A Sears & Roebuck Home was purchased out of the 1926 Sears catalog. The lot was purchased from the East Pittsburgh Improvement Company.  The attached documents show the original purchase agreement with Sears, the title, and deed to the property.

Trafford, PA

The 1938 photo shows the family in the livingroom of their Inwood Rd home. This photo was taken after the death of Andrej Capets who died the year before Vic and Vernie were born.

The second photo attached here shows the entire Capets family circa 1960.

Andrew Capets, 80th Division, 313th Machine Gun Battalion

| France

Andrew Capets was drafted and inducted into the Army at age 22 on April 5, 1918.  Andrew served as a Private and assigned to the 80th Division, 313th Machine Gun Battalion, Company C.  His unit left the United States on May 26, 1918 and he arrived overseas June 9, 1918.  He was in the Artois Sector July 23 – August 18, 1918.  September 12 – 16 he served in the St Mihiel Offensive Corps Reserve and took part in the Meuse Argonne Offensive on Sept 26, October 12, and November 1 through the 7th, 1918.  He boarded the USS Mercury on May 21, 1919 and sailed back to the United States arriving June 7, 1919.  He was honorably discharged June 1919.
