Civil War Pension Index Cards of Newton Earp, James Earp, and Virgil Earp.

Newton Earp, the half-brother of Wyatt Earp, was roughly 24 years old when he enlisted in the Union Army.  Newton was a Private in Company F, Regiment 4 of the Iowa Cavalry.  Newton served the Union Army for the entirety of the Civil War.

James Earp was 19 years old when he joined the Union Army.  James served in Company F, Regiment 17 of the Illinois Infantry.  The Civil War Pension Index File, attached to the right, does not list James' rank in the Illinois Infantry.  James was badly injured in October of 1861, ending his service in the Civil War.

Virgil Earp was roughly 17 years old when he joined the Union Army.  Virgil served as a Private in Company C, Regiment 83 of the Illinois Infantry.  Like his brother Newton, Virgil served the Union Army for the entirety of the Civil War. 

Virgil is most famously known for his involvement at the O.K. Corral with his brothers Wyatt and Morgan Earp, and Doc Holliday.  The four men fought against Frank McLaury, Tom McLaury, Ike Clanton, Billy Claibore, and Wes Fuller.
