Hornchurch said: '42-107740' (nicknamed 'Junior') & coded 'T6-U' was a 391st Bomb-Grp Martin B.26 Marauder that had it's tail smashed by German AA.fire (88mm) on the 20th May 1944. This picture was taken at her home-base, Matching-Green, Essex, England (USAAF Station 166) after the event. 'T6-U' was eventually repaired & went on to fly-total of 96missions. (I used to live near the base & visit often, BTW

Hornchurch said: Guys, this is NEITHER of the planes you mention (but it has 'Links/Association' with each..). It's a Douglas A.26 'Invader' It replaced the Douglas A.20 on the production-line.. It ALSO replaced the Martin B.26 Marauder in the E.T.O. (European.Theatre of Op's). After WW.II the Martin B.26's were (quickly) scrapped & the 'Invader' was THEREAFTER re-designated as the (new)
