    Donnie Joe was one hell of a Marine. He and I arrived in country the same time and I was close by him when he was killed. We were entering a bombed out village at night wehn we had enemy movement. Donnie and Byron(Buddy) Canada engaged the enemy with M-16s. Buddy threw a grenade into the enemy position and got down.     Dan Margrave was a great American who in the short months I knew him we became the best of friends. He was a natural athlete who was the cross-country running record holder for the state of Montana in high school. He was killed on Ga-Noi Island in in I Corps when our unit was bombed by an F-4 Navy Phantom which dropped 4 -250lbs bombs on our company while conducting a sweep or movement to ...more
