Sorry to say, I do not currently posses the obituary of Augustus M. Walling. Please refer to the card of his twin brother Julius M. Walling who also served with the 8th Regiment Iowa Infantry Company A. His brother's obituary gives a great deal of insight into the life of Augustus as well. (A Veteran's Day 2009 salute to all who have served.)

Julius M. Walling was the twin brother of Augustus M Walling, who was also a veteran of the Civil War. His brother may also be found on footnote serving with the same company as shown on Julius's card here. The brothers also served with other regiments as can be seen from their individual cards.
