This veteran was Harry W. apRees. He was born in Wales on June 18, 1840. He joined the Royal Navy and after an adventerous career he ended up in Canada, after discharge, in 1863. After residing in Canada, he came south to Lockport, N.Y. and enlisted in the Union Army in June, 1864 His father was an officer in the Royal Engineers.
