Like you, my g-g-grandfather also served on both sides. I don't have quite as much info as you but he enlisted in Dawson county, Ga in 1861 in the confederecy(don't recall off-hand the unit but I have it) as a private, progressed to Sergeant, was not present for a roll in 1863, and then turns up as a sergeant in the 5th Tennessee Mounted Infantry( a Federal Unit) which I believe was entirely ...moremade a comment on this Footnote Page. 15 Feb 2008
