    I have always wanted to tell his family about the day he died but never could contact anyone. In my view he was a hero and I wanted his family to know that. So much time has passed since that day I will probably never get the chance to do so.

    Don was a great friend and soldier as we served together in that awful place. I saw him get hit that tragic day and ran to his rescue but to no avail. I have never forgotten his name and will always remember that fateful day. We were both born in 1950 and his memory lives on within my mind.
