Unreported Revolutionary War Service caused pension problems

Failed Rev. War record-keeping resulted in a greatly delayed and much reduced pension for Samuel Wallace. This happened to others in Lincoln County. How many were affected? The Secretary never acknowledged the issue to my knowledge.

Not an uncommon problem nation-wide. The soldier has to prove a given number of months service but the appropriate rolls that would offer such evidence are not available. Written discharges and affidavits from others are other proofs.
