Vapor trails from Boeing B-17 Flying Fortresses (World War 2)
Sub-zero temperatures at high altitudes cause exhaust gases to condense leaving long vapor trails across the sky. These Eighth Air Force B-17s were flying towards communication targets from their base in England.
