John H. LEWIS, -this may be john Henry LEWIS, one of my GGreatGrandfth's.

This looks like it may be one of my GreatGreatGrandfather's. John H. (HENRY) LEWIS, was a builder in Washington DC, who came into Washington DC, from Portsmouth, Virginia, after the civil war. He had been a 2nd Lt., CONFEDERACY.

This is the only John H. LEWIS, that MAY fit the description, as John H. (henry), became a builder, in Washington DC, after the civil war, as the CONFEDERATE'S in Portsmouth, Virginia, were not allowed to work there due to the brutal occupation.
