William Lee Pittman

William Lee was born Aug. 11, 1893 in Wilbarger,Texas. The oldest son of William Carrell Pittman and Rebecca Lucinda Speaks Pittman. He came to Harmon Co. when his parents settled in Aug. of 1897. On March 12, 1911 at Wellington, Collingsworth Co. Texas, he married Maude Mae Frazier, daughter of William Henry and Bertie Lou Gibson Frazier, who had settled in Harmon Co. Maude was born May 20, 1891 in Indian Territory, Greer Co. Texas. Lee and Maude owned a restaurant in Gould,Ok. until 1927, when they moved to Dill City, Ok. There Lee picked up the nickname of "Two Gun Pittman" after becoming City Marshall.
In 1933 they moved to Sentinel Ok. which had become a pretty rough town and as City Marshall, he cleaned it up. He held the Pistol Sharpshooter Title in the State of Oklahoma during his terms as City Marshall. Lee died Nov. 4, 1962 at Clinton, Custer CO., Ok. and is buried at Gould Oklahoma. Maude died Dec. 25, 1979 at Santa Paula, California. where she is buried.
Out of six children only 2 survived: Woodrow Harold born 1918 Gould and Mattie Lou born 1923 at Gould.
